Armistice of Erzincan

Treaties and International Agreements

The Armistice of Erzincan was signed on December 18, 1917, by the Ottoman Empire and the Transcaucasian Commissariat to suspend hostilities on the Caucasian and Persian fronts of the First World War. A supplementary protocol signed the same day demarcated the occupation lines between the two sides, and Russian troops began withdrawing from the region, leaving the forces of the Transcaucasian Commissariat to hold the front. The truce broke down when fighting resumed on February 12, 1918, and was ultimately superseded by the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk in March 1918 and the Treaty of Batum that June.
