Parliamentary Governments

A cabinet led by a prime minister or chancellor who holds office by commanding the confidence of an elected legislature, drawn from and answerable to it, rather than by separate popular election. Belongs here: the government of a parliamentary democracy or parliamentary republic, current or recent (the Starmer Government, the Merz Government, the Modi III Government). Does not belong here: a government headed by a separately and directly elected president who is also chief executive, filed under Presidential Administrations, or one where executive power is constitutionally divided between such a president and a legislature-answerable prime minister, filed under Semi-Presidential Governments.
