National Coalition Party

Political Parties and Party Coalitions

The National Coalition Party is a conservative political party in Finland, founded in 1918 and one of the three big parties that have long dominated Finnish national politics, along with the Social Democratic Party and the Centre Party. Literature describes it as liberal, conservative and liberal-conservative on the centre-right, and its foreign stance is pro-NATO and pro-European; it belongs to the European People's Party. Its chair since 2016 has been Petteri Orpo. It is the current governing party of Finland and has been out of coalition governments for only eight years since the 1990s.
