People's Justice Party (Malaysia)

Political Parties and Party Coalitions

The People's Justice Party, known as PKR or Keadilan, is a reformist political party in Malaysia, founded in 2003 through the merger of its predecessor, the National Justice Party, with the socialist Malaysian People's Party. The predecessor was founded in 1999 by Wan Azizah Wan Ismail at the height of the Reformasi movement, which was triggered by the imprisonment of her husband, the former deputy prime minister Anwar Ibrahim. After the 2022 election produced a hung parliament, the party came to govern Malaysia through a unity government led by Anwar Ibrahim as the tenth prime minister.
