Political and Economic Theorists

Tim Soutphommasane, born in 1982, is an Australian academic, social commentator and former public servant. He served as Australia's Race Discrimination Commissioner at the Australian Human Rights Commission from 2013 to 2018, and earlier worked as a political staffer for Bob Carr, a columnist for The Age and The Australian, a lecturer at the University of Sydney and Monash University, and a research fellow at the Per Capita think tank. His 2009 book Reclaiming Patriotism: Nation-Building for Australian Progressives, published by Cambridge University Press, argues that the Australian left should embrace patriotism.
