He has held the parliamentary seat for Ubenide since December 18, 2001, and sits as an independent, having earlier served as Speaker of Parliament, Minister of Finance, Minister of Justice, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Minister Assisting the President. He is the son of Kennan Adeang, a former President of Nauru.
