Gabriel Boric is a Chilean politician who served as the 37th President of Chile from March 11, 2022 to March 11, 2026, succeeded by Jose Antonio Kast. A former student activist and leader of the 2011 Chilean student protests, he was elected to the Chamber of Deputies in 2014 and again in 2018 before winning the presidency in 2021 as the candidate of the left wing Apruebo Dignidad coalition, becoming Chile's youngest ever president. His government pursued a broad social reform agenda, including a failed attempt to replace the Pinochet era constitution, and in its final year proposed a 2026 budget focused on healthcare spending.
