Myanmar is de jure a unitary assembly-independent republic under its 2008 constitution, though it has been under military rule since the 2021 coup. A President serves as head of state and a Prime Minister as head of government, and the bicameral Pyidaungsu Hluttaw, comprising the Pyithu Hluttaw and the Amyotha Hluttaw, is the country's legislature, dissolved since the takeover. Myanmar's capital is Naypyidaw.
