Poland is a unitary parliamentary representative democratic republic in Central Europe. The President serves as head of state while the Prime Minister heads the government, and the bicameral Parliament of Poland, comprising the Sejm and the Senate, holds legislative power. Poland is governed under its constitution, in force since 17 October 1997.
