The Abraham Accords are diplomatic normalization agreements between Israel and several Arab states, brokered by the United States under President Donald Trump; the first, with the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, were announced in August and September 2020 and signed in Washington on 15 September 2020, making the UAE and Bahrain the first Arab states to formally recognize Israel since Jordan in 1994. Sudan and Morocco joined in the following months, and the accords, named for the shared patriarch of the Abrahamic religions, formalized economic, diplomatic and security cooperation, drawing government support alongside continued public opposition across much of the Arab world tied to the unresolved Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
