The Constitution of the People's Republic of China is the supreme law of the state, currently the version adopted in 1982 by the National People's Congress, which has since been amended five times, most recently in March 2018. It succeeded a series of earlier PRC framework documents beginning with the 1949 Common Program adopted by the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, itself following failed republican-era constitutional efforts under the Qing dynasty, the 1912 Provisional Constitution and the Kuomintang's 1931 and 1947 constitutions.
