This group holds presidents, prime ministers, monarchs, military and transitional rulers who have headed the state or government of a country located in Africa under the United Nations geoscheme. It spans the continent's independence-era founders, one-party and military transitional administrations, and the elected and hereditary heads of state and government now in office, covering North, West, East, Central and Southern Africa alike. Placement follows the officeholder's own country, not the era or the manner in which office was reached.
