Parties That Built Single-Party Authoritarian Rule

Political parties that took national power and used it to suppress rival parties and run the state as a one-party or party-dominated regime, from revolutionary and nationalist parties to totalitarian ones. A party belongs here when its cited source describes it establishing one-party or authoritarian rule over a state. It is distinct from the group of ruling parties of communist single-party states, which holds parties of states that are described in those terms today. The group sits under the Political Parties and Party Coalitions subcategory of the Political Atlas and helps a reader browse that subcategory by the form of government that each party built or sustained. Each member is placed on the strength of the page it cites, so a reader can follow the grouping back to a stated source.
