Movements

Collective mobilizations that organized to change, resist or end a political order, from revolutions and anti-colonial independence struggles to civil-rights, labor and transnational solidarity campaigns. Organized into five subcategories by the movement's own primary aim, from Revolutions and Popular Uprisings through Transnational Solidarity and State Reform Movements, following the contentious-politics distinction between overthrowing a domestic ruling order, ending external or colonial rule, and extending rights within an existing political order.
