Aleksandr Dugin, born in 1962, is a Russian political philosopher and the leading theorist of Russian neo-Eurasianism. He was an anti-communist dissident in the 1980s and, after the dissolution of the Soviet Union, co-founded the National Bolshevik Party with Eduard Limonov in 1993, leaving it in 1998. His best-known work is Foundations of Geopolitics, published in 1997. In 2009 he published The Fourth Political Theory, a book that claims the foundations of an entirely new political ideology meant to integrate and supersede liberal democracy, Marxism and fascism.
