Alassane Dramane Ouattara, born January 1, 1942, in Dimbokro, has served as the 5th President of Ivory Coast since April 11, 2011, after a disputed contest with rival Laurent Gbagbo that began with the December 2010 election and ended only after military intervention removed Gbagbo. An economist by training who worked for the International Monetary Fund and the Central Bank of West African States, he served as Prime Minister from 1990 to 1993 under President Felix Houphouet-Boigny and founded the Rally of the Republicans party in 1999. He was re-elected on October 25, 2025 with 89.77 percent of the vote and inaugurated December 8, 2025 for a fourth term.
