Albin Kurti (born 24 March 1975 in Pristina) is a Kosovar politician who has served as Prime Minister of Kosovo since 22 March 2021, after an earlier term from February to June 2020. He first became prominent in 1997 as a student activist organizing demonstrations against Serbian administration of the University of Pristina, was arrested during the 1999 NATO bombing campaign and sentenced to fifteen years in prison, and was released and pardoned in 2001. He co-founded the Vetevendosje movement in 2005 and has led the party since 2018, building it into Kosovo's largest political force. His governments have emphasized anti-corruption measures, social welfare expansion and relations with Kosovo's neighbors.
