Cai-Goran Alexander Stubb, born April 1, 1968, has served as President of Finland since March 1, 2024, having left the National Coalition Party, which he had led, to run for the office as an independent. He previously served as Prime Minister of Finland from June 2014 to May 2015, Foreign Minister from 2008 to 2011, Minister for European Affairs and Foreign Trade from 2011 to 2014, Minister of Finance from 2015 to 2016, and as a Member of the European Parliament from 2004 to 2008, and spent the years between government service as vice-president of the European Investment Bank and as a director and professor at the European University Institute. He holds a doctorate from the London School of Economics and is described as the second Finland-Swedish president, after Carl Gustaf Emil Mannerheim, and the first to be elected to the office.
