Andrej Plenkovic, born April 8, 1970, in Zagreb, has served as Prime Minister of Croatia since October 19, 2016, leading the Croatian Democratic Union, which he has chaired since July 2016, through victories in the 2016, 2020 and 2024 parliamentary elections. Before becoming prime minister he served as a member of the European Parliament from 2013 to 2016 and earlier held diplomatic posts at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including deputy ambassador to France. He holds a law degree from the University of Zagreb and a master's degree in international public and private law, and speaks Croatian, English, French and Italian fluently.
