Anthony Albanese (born 2 March 1963) is an Australian politician who has served as the 31st prime minister of Australia since 23 May 2022, leading the Australian Labor Party, which he has led since 2019. Born in Sydney and educated in economics at the University of Sydney, he worked as a Labor Party official before entering the House of Representatives in 1996, representing the New South Wales seat of Grayndler, which he has held ever since. His first term as prime minister focused on managing Australia's cost-of-living crisis, climate policy and industrial relations reform, and his government was re-elected in a landslide in the 2025 election, forming one of the largest Labor governments in Australian history.
