Balendra Shah, a Nepali structural engineer, rapper and politician also known as Balen Shah, has served as Prime Minister of Nepal since March 27, 2026. He rose to national prominence as Mayor of Kathmandu before leading the Rastriya Swatantra Party to a landslide victory in the 2026 general election, called after the political unrest of the preceding year. At 36 years old he became the world's youngest serving state leader, and his government took office facing pressure to address the corruption and generational grievances that had driven the unrest.
