Ban Ki-moon is a South Korean diplomat who served as the eighth Secretary-General of the United Nations from 2007 to 2016, having previously served as his country's foreign minister. His two terms emphasized climate change diplomacy, culminating in the 2015 Paris Agreement, as well as the adoption of the Sustainable Development Goals, and he later chaired international bodies including the Ban Ki-moon Centre for Global Citizens.
