Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson, born June 19, 1964, in New York City, served as Conservative Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from July 2019 to September 2022. His government took Britain formally out of the European Union on January 31, 2020, and subsequently negotiated the EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement governing the future relationship. He led the country's response to the COVID-19 pandemic, including its vaccination rollout, but resigned in July 2022 after a series of scandals, including the Partygate affair over lockdown-breaking gatherings in Downing Street, eroded support within his own party.
