Duma Gideon Boko, born December 31, 1969, in Mahalapye, Central District, has served as the 6th President of Botswana since November 1, 2024, after leading the Umbrella for Democratic Change to victory in the 2024 general election, the first time an opposition party had won a Botswana election since independence in 1966. He is the first Botswana president not to belong to the Botswana Democratic Party, having previously led opposition parties through several earlier election cycles before this victory.
