Emmanuel Macron is a French politician who has served as President of the French Republic since 14 May 2017, re-elected for a second term beginning 14 May 2022. Under the Fifth Republic constitution, foreign policy is the President's own reserved domain, distinct from the Prime Minister-led government's domestic remit; Macron leads France's foreign policy directly through his presidency rather than through any one Prime Minister's cabinet.
