Gabrielė Petkevičaitė, known by the pen name Bitė, was a Lithuanian educator, writer and activist who became a prominent figure of the Lithuanian National Revival after starting her writing career in 1890. She founded and chaired the Žiburėlis society, which provided financial aid to struggling students, was an editor of the newspaper Lietuvos žinios, and was active in the women's movement. In 1920 she was elected to the Constituent Assembly of Lithuania and chaired its first session.
