Godwin Elliot Loraine Friday, born September 28, 1959, in Bequia, has served as Prime Minister of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines since November 28, 2025, after his New Democratic Party won fourteen of fifteen parliamentary seats in the 2025 general election, ending Ralph Gonsalves's twenty-year tenure and forming the country's first New Democratic Party government since 1998. He has led the New Democratic Party since 2016, served as Leader of the Opposition from 2016 to 2025, and has represented the Northern Grenadines constituency in Parliament since 2001. He holds bachelor's and master's degrees in history from the University of Waterloo in Canada and a doctorate in political studies along with a law degree from Queen's University, Ontario.
