Hristijan Mickoski, born September 29, 1977, in Skopje, has served as Prime Minister of North Macedonia since June 23, 2024, after leading the VMRO-DPMNE party, which he has chaired since 2017, to victory over the Social Democrats in the May 2024 election. Before becoming prime minister he served as Leader of the Opposition from 2017 to 2024 and worked as an energy advisor to earlier prime ministers and as director of Power Plants of Macedonia. He holds a doctoral degree and taught as an associate and later full professor of mechanical engineering at the Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, and was a visiting professor at the Vienna University of Technology.
