Irakli Kobakhidze, born September 25, 1978, in Tbilisi, has served as Prime Minister of Georgia since February 8, 2024, an appointment resting on a parliamentary majority from Georgia's own disputed 2024 parliamentary election, and became Chairman of the ruling Georgian Dream party in May 2025. He earlier served as Chairperson of the Parliament of Georgia from 2016 to 2019 and as Georgian Dream's executive secretary and later chairman before becoming prime minister. He holds a law degree from Tbilisi State University and a doctorate in law from Heinrich Heine University in Dusseldorf, Germany.
