James Marape, born April 24, 1971, in Tari, has served as Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea since May 30, 2019, leading the Pangu Party after earlier passing through the People's Progress Party, the National Alliance Party, and the People's National Congress. He has represented the Tari-Pori District in the National Parliament since 2007 and previously served as Minister for Education from 2008 to 2011, Minister of Finance from 2012 to 2019, and Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2023 to 2024. He holds a bachelor's degree and an honours degree in environmental science from the University of Papua New Guinea. Papua New Guinea remains a Commonwealth realm under the British monarch, so this wave mints only the office of Prime Minister, the country's real seat of executive power.
