Jeffrey Bostic, popularly known as The Colonel, has served as President of Barbados since November 30, 2025, becoming the country's second president and its first male head of state under the republican system established in 2021, succeeding Sandra Mason. Elected by a joint sitting of the House of Assembly and the Senate on October 7, 2025, with his nomination jointly endorsed by Prime Minister Mia Mottley and Opposition Leader Ralph Thorne, he served in the Barbados Regiment from 1976 to 2006, rising to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and serving as equerry to Queen Elizabeth II during her final visit to Barbados in 1989, and later as Director of Operations at the Regional Security System. He entered elected politics as Minister of Health and Wellness and a member of the House of Assembly from 2018 to 2022, guiding Barbados's public health response through the COVID-19 pandemic, and was educated at St Mary's Primary School, Combermere School and the University of the West Indies.
