John Antonio Briceno, born July 17, 1960, in Orange Walk Town, then British Honduras, has served as the fifth and current Prime Minister of Belize since November 12, 2020. A member of the People's United Party and Member of Parliament for Orange Walk Central since 1993, he co-founded the cable and internet provider Centaur Communications in 1990 before rising through his party, serving as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Natural Resources and Environment under Prime Minister Said Musa from 1998 to 2007. He became party leader in 2008, resigned in 2011 citing health concerns, and reclaimed the leadership in 2016. His party won decisively in the November 2020 general election, making him the first prime minister not from Belize City, and his government was re-elected with an increased majority in March 2025.
