Luis Rodolfo Abinader Corona, born July 12, 1967, in Santo Domingo, has served as the 54th President of the Dominican Republic since August 16, 2020, and was re-elected to a second term in May 2024 with 57 percent of the vote. An economist and businessman, he leads the Modern Revolutionary Party, having previously served as the party's deputy chairman and as its vice-presidential candidate in the 2012 election. He holds an undergraduate degree in economics from the Instituto Tecnologico de Santo Domingo and completed postgraduate studies in project management at the Hult International Business School in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
