Mara Cristina Gabrilli is a Brazilian politician and disability rights advocate who has served as a senator for Sao Paulo since 2019, after two terms as a federal deputy beginning in 2011. Quadriplegic since a 1994 car accident, she founded the Instituto Mara Gabrilli in 1997 to support people with disabilities and in 2018 became the first Brazilian elected to the United Nations Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
