Matthew Cooper Wale, born June 13, 1968, in Ambu Village, Malaita Province, has served as Prime Minister of Solomon Islands since May 15, 2026, elected by the National Parliament after Jeremiah Manele was removed in a no-confidence vote on May 7, 2026. A member of the Solomon Islands Democratic Party, he has represented the Aoke/Langalanga constituency in the National Parliament since March 27, 2008, and served as the country's Leader of the Opposition from 2019 until his election as prime minister. He was appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire in the 2025 New Year Honours. Solomon Islands remains a Commonwealth realm under the British monarch, so this wave mints only the office of Prime Minister, the country's real seat of executive power.
