Mette Frederiksen, born November 19, 1977, in Aalborg, has served as Prime Minister of Denmark since June 27, 2019, and as leader of the Social Democrats since June 28, 2015. She is the second woman to hold the office, after Helle Thorning-Schmidt, and became the youngest prime minister in Danish history; she has been a member of the Folketing since November 20, 2001, and previously served as Minister of Employment from 2011 to 2014 and Minister of Justice from 2014 to 2015 under Thorning-Schmidt. She holds a bachelor's degree in administration and social sciences from Aalborg University and a master's degree in African studies from the University of Copenhagen.
