Mia Amor Mottley, born October 1, 1965, in Bridgetown, has served as Prime Minister of Barbados since May 25, 2018, and was re-elected to a third consecutive term in February 2026, leading the Barbados Labour Party since 2008. She was the first woman to serve as the country's Attorney-General, from 2001 to 2003, also served as Deputy Prime Minister from 2003 to 2008 and as Leader of the Opposition across two periods, and has represented the constituency of Saint Michael North East in Parliament since 1994. She holds a law degree from the London School of Economics, was called to the English and Barbadian bars, and oversaw Barbados's transition from a constitutional monarchy to a parliamentary republic on November 30, 2021, becoming the country's first prime minister to serve under a Barbadian head of state.
