Micheal Martin is the Taoiseach of Ireland and leader of Fianna Fail, having returned to the office in January 2025 after previously serving as Taoiseach from 2020 to 2022 under Ireland's rotating coalition arrangement. Born on 1 August 1960 in Turners Cross, Cork, he trained as a teacher before entering Cork City Council in 1985 and becoming Lord Mayor of Cork, and has represented Cork South-Central in the Dail since 1989, holding the Education, Health, Enterprise and Foreign Affairs portfolios across earlier governments.
