Mindaugas Sinkevicius, born June 20, 1984, in Jonava, has served as the 20th Prime Minister of Lithuania since July 14, 2026, and as chairman of the Social Democratic Party of Lithuania, of which he has been a member since 2004, since July 31, 2025. The Seimas approved his appointment by a vote of 80 to 2 following the resignation of his predecessor, Inga Ruginiene; he previously served as mayor of Jonava District Municipality across two terms, as Lithuania's Minister of Economy from 2016 to 2017, and as vice-mayor of Jonava. He holds bachelor's degrees in business management and administration and in law, and a master's degree and doctorate from ISM University of Management and Economics.
