Myriam Spiteri Debono is the eleventh President of Malta, unanimously approved by the House of Representatives and sworn in on 4 April 2024. Born on 25 October 1952 in Rabat, Gozo, she graduated from the University of Malta in English literature and linguistics and became one of the first women to qualify as a notary public on the islands, and she spent decades active in the Malta Labour Party before being appointed the country's first female Speaker of the House of Representatives in 1996.
