Nikenike Vurobaravu, born December 3, 1951, has served as President of Vanuatu since July 23, 2022, winning election in the eighth round of voting by the country's electoral college with 47 of 58 votes as the tenth president of Vanuatu and its twelfth officeholder overall. A member of the Vanua'aku Pati, he previously served as Vanuatu's first resident High Commissioner to Fiji. Vanuatu's presidency is a five-year, non-renewable, largely ceremonial head-of-state office, distinct from the office of Prime Minister that an earlier wave minted as the country's real seat of executive power.
