Nikos Christodoulides is the President of Cyprus, having taken office on 28 February 2023 as an independent candidate after a long career in the country's diplomatic service. Born on 6 December 1973 in Geroskipou, he earned a doctorate in political science from the University of Athens, served in Cypriot diplomatic postings including Consul General in London, and was Cyprus's Government Spokesman from 2014 to 2018 and Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2018 to 2022 under his predecessor Nicos Anastasiades before leaving the governing Democratic Rally to run for the presidency himself.
