Paul Barthelemy Biya (born 13 February 1933 in Mvomeka'a, French Cameroon) has served as the second president of Cameroon since 6 November 1982, having previously served as the country's fifth prime minister under President Ahmadou Ahidjo from 1975 to 1982. A member of the Cameroon People's Democratic Movement, he is the second-longest-ruling president in African history and the longest continuously serving non-royal national leader in the world, and at 93 is the world's oldest sitting head of state; his tenure has drawn documented concerns over authoritarian governance and allegations of electoral fraud across numerous contested presidential elections.
