Percy Bysshe Shelley (1792 to 1822) was an English writer who is considered one of the major English Romantic poets. He was a radical in his poetry as well as in his political and social views, and he did not achieve fame during his lifetime, though recognition of his work grew steadily after his death and he became an important influence on later poets such as Robert Browning, Algernon Charles Swinburne, Thomas Hardy and W. B. Yeats. His political essay A Philosophical View of Reform, written in 1819 and 1820 and first published by Oxford University Press in 1920, is his longest prose work.
