Philip Edward Davis, born June 7, 1951, in New Providence, has served as Prime Minister of the Bahamas since September 17, 2021, leading the Progressive Liberal Party, and was re-elected to a second consecutive term in the snap general election of May 12, 2026, sworn in on May 14, 2026. A practising lawyer and former president of the Bahamas Bar Association, he was called to the bar in 1975 and later appointed Queen's Counsel, and has represented the constituency of Cat Island, Rum Cay and San Salvador in Parliament across two separate periods since 1992. Before becoming prime minister he served as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Works and Urban Development from 2012 to 2017 and as Leader of the Opposition from 2017 to 2021, and held the finance portfolio during his first term as prime minister.
