Robert Fico, born September 15, 1964, in Topolcany, has served as Prime Minister of Slovakia since October 25, 2023, his fourth mandate in the office after earlier terms from 2006 to 2010, 2012 to 2016 and 2016 to 2018, making him the longest-serving prime minister in Slovak history. He has chaired the Direction-Social Democracy party since founding it in 1999, and formed his current coalition government after the party's victory in the September 2023 parliamentary election. He holds a law degree from Comenius University in Bratislava and a doctorate in law from the Slovak Academy of Sciences, and worked at the Ministry of Justice before entering full time politics.
