Senarath Attanayake was a Sri Lankan politician and lawyer who became the first wheelchair user admitted to the Sri Lankan bar and the first person with a disability to enter Sri Lankan politics. Paralyzed by polio at age two, he served as minister of agriculture, irrigation, livestock and land from 1999 to 2004 and completed four terms on the Uva Provincial Council, where he created the island's first disability and age friendly district, before his death in 2017.
