Tarique Rahman has served as Prime Minister of Bangladesh since 17 February 2026, after his Bangladesh Nationalist Party won the country's first general election since the 2024 uprising. He is the eldest son of former President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, and chaired the BNP from January 2026 after serving as its Acting Chairman from 2018 to 2026. He spent 17 years in self-imposed exile in the United Kingdom before returning to Bangladesh in late 2025.
