Roman tribune of the plebs whose lex agraria of 133 BCE forced redistribution of public land from wealthy senatorial families to landless citizens, becoming a founding precedent for land reform as a political program, at the cost of his own life in a riot his senatorial opponents instigated. He is traditionally dated to about 163 to 133 BCE.
