Ulf Hjalmar Kristersson, born December 29, 1963, in Lund, has served as Prime Minister of Sweden since October 18, 2022, and as leader of the Moderate Party since October 1, 2017. He holds a degree in economics from Uppsala University, completed military service in the Swedish Army from 1983 to 1984, and has served in the Riksdag since 2014 after an earlier term from 1991 to 2000, previously serving as Minister for Social Security from 2010 to 2014. As prime minister his government has focused on NATO membership, increased defense spending, stricter migration policies, and crime prevention initiatives. He has been married since 1991 to Birgitta Ed and has three adopted daughters from China.
